The Legends, Better Known As The Jackson's

Well, here we are in 2026, and it's my first post of the year!! So, you know what I'm writing about had to be "Starting Something" in the streets. Lol, and it has, all around town to the point it's drawn me back into the lab. I mean, this movie has been getting so much hype from school-age kids to adults, that I wanted to see for myself if the hype was real, so I took my eight-year-old son, hit the cinema carpet, and I must say, I left the theater feeling well. Let's continue...

The something that's been starting something in the streets right now is the new Michael Jackson movie titled "Michael," about the life and times of the Jackson family and the rise of Michael Jackson himself.

This movie is so impactful that it has captivated a whole new generation of admirers, better known as Generation Alpha. Continuing to thrive into a whole new era for Michael Jackson, even after death, reigns supreme, which in its own right is nothing less than truly monumental.

Let's get into the script! The movie opens with the youngest of the Jackson Five looking out the window as neighborhood kids play while he and his brothers are inside, under the direction of their father, Joseph Jackson, who is grooming them to unknowingly become one of the world's most iconic families. Now, some argue that Michael was the one who led the family to fame and fortune, while others argue it was Joe Jackson's early grooming and perseverance that led to the family's legacy. Which side would you argue?

Nonetheless, what I loved about the script is that it has its own originality to it; it's not like the other Michael Jackson biopics or movies before it. It includes the time Michael met with the Crips and Bloods in Los Angeles in an attempt to broker a peace treaty between the sets. Along with how he cultivated and navigated his thoughts into reality, and how he was a true humanitarian, despite being a world-renowned artist.

Alongside the script, I also loved the star-studded cast that's featured in the movie, Nia Long, Larenz Tate, Deon Cole, and a few others to mention a few. But the fact that the director, Antoine Fuqua, and executive producer Prince Jackson, Michael's youngest son, chose Jaafar Jackson, MJ's biological nephew, to play his uncle was a superb choice. For he did not disappoint. As seen throughout the whole movie, he did not miss a beat. The voice, the dance moves, the energy, and emotions he channeled from his uncle were truly genuine and heartfelt. At times, he played the role so well that one would question whether he was acting at all. Kudos to him!

The movie was incredibly entertaining; I left the theater feeling like I hadn’t just bought a ticket to see a film, but a ticket to witness some of the greatest moments in the history of music-making. It was nothing short of amazing, and I’d recommend it again and again! So, what are you waiting for? Beat it and go see the movie!

Thank you in advance for reading my blog! Until the street starts, starting something again, take care!
